The Mouse-Trap Man Waltz – The waltz was originally composed by W. H. Montgomery c.1865 as The Mouse Trap Waltz. The melody was then arranged by R. Hughes, with lyrics by H. J. Wymark, to become, in 1866, Leybourne’s extraordinarily successful The Mouse-Trap Man, a song that ran to at least 26 published editions. The cover shown is the waltz edition published c.1866, after Leybourne’s success with the song.
